**Offered in-person at the AWC Reskilling & Technology Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Dr. in Yuma**

Listening is the cornerstone of effective communication and helps build stronger, more trusting relationships. In this session, you'll learn to recognize the common barriers that prevent true listening — and how to overcome them. You'll master the core steps of active listening, gaining the skills to clarify messages, uncover meaning through tone and body language, and respond with empathy in emotionally charged situations. The training also highlights how attentive listening improves information flow, boosts productivity, and strengthens teamwork. By the end, you'll be equipped to create a more collaborative and understanding communication culture.

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Discover why listening is the cornerstone of effective communication and stronger relationships.
  • Spot the common barriers that get in the way of truly hearing others — and learn how to overcome them.
  • Master the steps of active listening to build trust and clarity in every conversation.
