AMERICAN RED CROSS
The Mission - The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
The Vision - The vision of the Grand Canyon Chapter is to partner with the people of Arizona to develop and foster safer families, neighborhoods and worksites. Serving as a leading public benefit corporation, we will promote a system of community self-sufficiency and compassionate response when emergencies arise.
Overview of Grand Canyon Chapter - The Grand Canyon Chapter, established in 1916, re-chartered in 1999 and expanded in 2003, ranks as the fifth-largest chapter nationally, serving the more than 5.1 million people in Apache, Coconino, Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma counties. Grand Canyon Chapter volunteers are committed to the communities they serve with response day and night to emergency calls, often stopping what theyre doing to aid their neighbors by ensuring they have a safe place to sleep, food, clothing and comfort following natural and manmade disasters. The Grand Canyon Chapter teaches people how to save lives through CPR and first aid, helping keep people secure in and around water via aquatics programs. Plus, the Grand Canyon Chapter assists military members by providing emergency communications and financial assistance and playing a critical role in their preparation for deployments.
